Hello, Celnuel! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Thanks for you fixes on Jakarta. Don't worry about small grammatical mistakes. Many contributors here are not native English speakers. We all make mistakes sometimes, and others will help fix them. Text from Wikipedia edit

Selamat datang ke Wikivoyage, Celnuel!

I, too, appreciate the edits you're making. I don't understand this one, though. It looks like you copied and pasted wholesale from Wikipedia without even deleting the footnote numbers, and now you're asking someone else to edit it? I'm glad you properly cited your source in your edit summary, but I'm having trouble seeing the point of dumping all that unfiltered Wikipedia text in the article, when anyone could just read it in w:Bogor. I'd be inclined to revert this edit, but maybe you have plans to do something with all that text?

Yang ikhlas,

Sorry, Celnuel, I only saw this talk page comment after I already reverted the edit. I understand that you would like to create a history section, but simply copying large texts from Wikipedia and then calling on others to do the work is not really acceptable. I understand that your English is not perfect and it's no problem when others have to correct small mistakes, but this is a bit too easy. Wikipedia is a good source of information, but we always try to create unique content. Indeed, the text over at Wikipedia is often quite elaborate and encyclopedic, so we usually need to change the tone and summarize the information. If you want to give that a go, please do. If not, don't worry about the history section and simply stick to the edits you feel comfortable making. All the best, JuliasTravels (talk) 20:18, 8 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much for the advice! Actually i had a plan with all those texts but I was also in the middle of my final exams, so i didn't have that much time to edit it thoroughly. I know... it's a really bad excuse. But in my defense, my phone also kinda shut down during my editing time. One thing lead to another, and we're left with all those text literally copied from wikipedia without any proper editing whatsoever. From now on, i learn that editing is better done using a laptop or a computer (i'm doing it right now) and only when i have a lot of free time. Again, thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it. If you like, feel free to see my newest edit on the history of Bogor. I hope it's not too encyclopedic. My first impression was that it reads pretty well. I did some copy editing, some of which shortened the section a bit. (By the way, on talk pages like this one, please sign each post by typing 4 tildes [~] at the end.) Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:58, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Celnuel. Indeed, editing longer sections is much easier on a laptop than one a phone. Just one more suggestion; if you want to work on a text like that, but don't have time to finish it all at once, it's often useful to first create a draft in what we call your userspace. You could create a page like User:Celnuel/Sandbox or User:Celnuel/Bogor or something like that and just edit it as and when you like, and no-one will interfere. When you think it's ready to be posted in the article, you just copy it there. Many of us work that way. JuliasTravels (talk) 09:48, 14 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
