Welcome edit

Hello, Chidgk1! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

Thanks a lot for cleaning up the Gökçeada article! Vidimian (talk) 12:11, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Kızılırmak Delta Bird Reserve‎ edit

Chidgk1, thanks for your contributions to Kızılırmak Delta Bird Reserve‎! I have one question: is the letter "ı" the same as "i"? If so, it would be preferable to change to "i" because many of us aren't able to type the other letter into our keyboards and therefore search for the article. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 19:58, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
"İ" and "I" are different letters and sounds. I guess one of us should make a redirect from a misspelling with "i"? Chidgk1 (talk) 20:05, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I can do that. I see now that, for example, Wikipedia uses that letter as well. Keep up the good work! --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 20:09, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Well, I guess I should have checked in the first place: it redirects automatically! --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 20:10, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Images, external links edit

Hello, Chidgk1! Welcome, and thanks for your contributions!

There are a couple of points of site style I want to mention to you.

First, we have a policy of using thumbnails selectively. An unbroken stream of thumbnails on the right side of any page is not Wikivoyage style, but if some extend beyond where the article would otherwise end on some browsers, that's really not good. Therefore, I've removed the last 2 thumbnails from Kızılırmak Delta Bird Reserve, which were the least interesting photos, anyway.

Second, we have a policy of not substituting external links for providing information in articles. We don't want people going to other sites to see lists of flora or fauna or images. So such external links should be removed and replaced with information that is stated in your own words as appropriate (not copied and pasted). Feel free to credit your source by copying the URL to your edit summaries (which you can put in the "Summary" box below your edit screen).

Please let me know if you have any questions.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:29, 11 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
