Hello, JTdale! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.

I appreciate that you're using Wikivoyage:Listings templates. Please don't delete unused fields in the templates (those should be restored). Also, this site has the idiosyncratic practice of not mentioning the name of the town (and the state, etc.) in "address" fields unless it's different from the article name. But these are small things, and the most important thing is that you are adding content. Please continue! And let us know if you have any questions by replying below if you like.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:33, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ikan! Thank you for the welcome. I saw someone inviting Tasmanian editors at WikiProject Tasmania, and thought I might be of some help! I was wondering about the name of the town in addresses, but it seems pretty much none of my state's articles are very fleshed out, so I wasn't able to go on much. Did I delete an unused field? I'm sorry if I did. I've been using the visual editors template tool, so I don't know how I did that. Haha. JTdale (talk) 05:59, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
No big deal and do please continue adding content! Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:10, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@JTdale, Ikan Kekek: Yes, that was me who reached out to w:WP:WikiProject Tasmania. I'd also advise you to take your email off your enwiki page in light of recent events that's happened at Wikivoyage. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 07:18, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oh dear, what happened? That email exists only for wiki users to contact me, and to this day I've never had anyone but a news company reach out to me haha. Is it that serious? JTdale (talk) 07:22, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
See Wikivoyage talk:User ban nominations. I made the mistake of publishing it on meta and I ended up getting 40 harassment emails from a globally banned user (who specifically targets User:Antandrus, but doesn't do this on enwiki since he's an admin on enwiki) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 07:27, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
I also need to reach out to the NT wikiproject. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 07:37, 24 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

[Undent] Hi, JTdale, and thanks for all your recent edits! I'd like to remind you, though, to please not delete unused fields in listing templates. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:42, 28 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

I think that's an issue with the visual editor. I remember Tai123.123 also had the same issue, but it's not too hard to add them back. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 22:25, 28 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Ikan. I haven't deleted anything so I guess its the visual editors fault. I've just been using the "insert template" feature. Not sure how I can avoid that problem in future, if its just an inherent flaw of the editor? Any advice would be appreciated. JTdale (talk) 20:22, 29 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
The simplest way to avoid the problem is to click the relevant icon to the right of "Listings" in your regular edit screen. Starting from left to right (the Greek temple to the italic I), the icons produce blank See, Do, Buy, Eat, Drink, Sleep, Go and generic listing templates. Much appreciated! JTdale (talk) 07:21, 30 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Central Highlands

edit

Hi there, just wanted to ask you what is the main thing to see in the Central Highlands. Google tells me all sorts of different answers, and the only thing I know of are the Walls of Jerusalem. Since you've got a better and local knowledge of tassie, do you know what's the primary thing to see. All the best! SHB2000 (talk | contribs | en.wikipedia) 11:16, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi SHB2000. Sorry for delay in getting back to you. There are a fair few things to do. Walls of Jerusalem is a good candidate for 'main' attraction. Bothwell is a historic town and has Australia's oldest golf course and oldest golf course outside Scotland, Ratho Farm Course. The town was mostly settled by Scottish settlers, so it has a lot of Scottish cultural connection. There is a visitor center in Bothwell too, with a small history exhibition.

Each of the towns has a lot of Georgian and Victorian architecture. Nant Distillery at Bothwell is a very well acclaimed whiskey producer, rated as one of the top whiskeys in the world. They are based at the 1821 Nant Estate, and have a cellar door.

Those come to mind immediately.
