Welcome
editHello! Thank you for your contributions to the Kukës article. Welcome to Wikivoyage. I hope that you'll keep sharing information with fellow travellers through this project.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines, style, and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you need help, post a question in the Arrivals lounge.
I've gone into the article to tidy up some of the formatting of your edits to bring it in line with Wikivoyage:Manual of style. Thanks again for being a part of Wikivoyage! Ground Zero (talk) 15:59, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
Some useful guidelines
editIndeed, welcome, Kilooscarfour!
I think you are likely to find the Welcome, tourism professionals page relevant to you even if you're not a tourism professional, and also please have a look at Wikivoyage:External links when you have a moment. Whenever there's a physical tourism office in a town, it's good to create an informational listing for it in the "Understand" section, but only if it has a physical address that can be visited. Private tourism agencies usually can't even be mentioned on this site, with limited exceptions (for example, walking tours, riverboat tours and cruises to islands can be listed in the "Do" section with the physical addresses [no post office boxes] of the companies' headquarters), and other tourism guide sites cannot be linked. After you've had a look at these links, let us know if you have any questions. You can post questions in a reply below or at the Travellers' pub.
All the best, and carry on!
Naming
editDo you think Kukës should be changed to Kukes? If so, please start a thread at Talk:Kukës, explaining why you think the spelling without an umlaut is more common in English, and see if you can convince a consensus to go along with you. But meanwhile, use the spelling used for that article title, please. Thank you.
P.S. I'll tell you right now that I doubt the name is used often enough in English for us not to use the local name. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:28, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, also, unlike Wikipedia, we normally link only the first appearance of the name of a different article. Please don't link Albania over and over. :-) Thank you. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:29, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes you are right. Probably is better without special characters. How can I change it or can you change it for me? Thanks for the tips :) Kilooscarfour (talk) 08:38, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- I am not suggesting it's better without special characters; I'm saying that if you think this site's naming conventions would tend to dictate a change in how we spell that place's name, you need to start a thread...Just please reread my first edit in this thread above, and let me know what's not clear. Differences from Wikipedia, copyleft policy
editI noticed you quoted verbatim from w:Shishtavec without crediting your source in an edit summary. That's a no-no, which violates Wikipedia's Creative Commons Copyleft and this site's copyleft policy. But maybe even more importantly, please read Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians and Wikivoyage:Goals and non-goals. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia; this is a travel guide. Not every place merits a travel article - see Wikivoyage:What is an article - and most details relevant in an encyclopedia are trivia uninteresting to most travelers. I know I just threw a bunch of stuff at you, but that's inevitable for a new user. We were all new users sometime. :-) By all means, ask a question if anything is confusing you. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:41, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- I fixed the copyright problem after the fact, so carry on with the article. I'll look forward to reading about interesting things to see, do and so forth. :-) Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:43, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
9 "Cities"
editHi again! I had to revert your edit adding a 10th city to Albania#Cities. Please have a look at Wikivoyage:Country article template#Cities and my edit summary, and please let me know if you have any questions.
All the best,
