Hello, WheelGun! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.
Also, please have a look at welcome, business owners, don't tout and external links, so you can refer to these pages as relevant. The Catskill 3500 Club website might be great, but it shouldn't be essential for a reader of this site to be directed to an external site to read about how to properly equip themselves to hike in the Catskills. And if you want to list the club, this kind of link is not the way it's normally done here; instead, if you think it should have an actual listing in the Catskills article, please state your case at Talk:Catskills and see what others say. Wikis work by individual initiative, yes, but ultimately by consensus.
I hope this doesn't cramp your style too much, and I might not have taken any action (though someone else might have), except that you've now put the link in at least two articles, whereas even a listing that's accepted by consensus normally can't be listed in more than one place, per don't tout.
All the best,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:44, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- Notwithstanding the above, you've done some really first-rate work at Delaware County (New York). By all means keep it up. We need more contributors like you at Wikivoyage! -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 03:29, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- Strongly seconded! Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:32, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
