Replying to editors
Hi, I'm new here and I was just wondering what the template for replying to other contributors here is. —The preceding comment was added by FightingForRight (talk • contribs)
- @FightingForRight: Same as on Wikipedia. You can use {{ping}} or simply wikilink their username. ARR8 (talk | contribs) 03:15, 28 May 2019 (UTC)
- You must use the ping template this way- {{Ping|username here}} Arep Ticous 16:45, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
Question Regrading Contribution
How do I contribute to Wikivoyage? Please help me with your useful guidance and suggestion. —The preceding comment was added by Sukriti maurya (talk • contribs)
- Take a look at Wikivoyage:Welcome, newcomers, Wikivoyage:Quick contribution guide and Wikivoyage:How to edit a page. Start out with articles about places you know well. Check those that are good and try to make the deficient ones better. An obvious thing is to add listings for restaurants and places to sleep at destinations where there now are none or only a few listed, and to add contact details for listings not having them. As you get a feel for our style, it should be easy to continue with other improvements. --LPfi (talk) 08:37, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, welcome to Wikivoyage! Although I agree with the above, I'd like to be more specific about a "place you know well" - I'd say start with either your hometown, or with your favourite travel destination (either a city or a region). You should have lots to say about either of those, and Wikivoyage could do with as much first-hand expertise as we can get. Your contributions to a 'smaller' article are also less likely to get immediately reverted, because most city and region articles are not as high-profile as country articles.
- When I started on Wikivoyage, I focused on my hometown (Farnborough), and then on my county and region. It's a really great way to practise at wiki-editing. Best of luck, ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 09:35, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
- I notice it seems Wikivoyage:How to edit a page was written before the visual editor. It should probably be rewritten with also VE and the listing editor in mind. --LPfi (talk) 09:54, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
- I'm probably too late, but from what I can see of your editing, it looks good. Spelling corrections and minor improvements are always acceptable. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 13:12, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
