Remove Map?

File:BayreuthMap.png doesn't show much information and is partially outdated: Underground is closed, Kolping Hotel doesn't exist anymore. The interactive map is much more useful, imho. Comments? --El Grafo (talk) 14:28, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

Museums section

The Museums section is pretty long (20 items). I tried to clean it up at least a little bit by grouping the tobacco museum and the little poster museum with the museum of art, as they are both parts of the latter [1]. Hope that was OK? I could do the same with

• Bayreuther Faiences
• Museum of Wilhelmine's Bayreuth
• State Gallery in the New Palace

as they are all part of the New Palace, but that would mean moving them from the "museums" section to the general "attractions" section. Thoughts on this? --El Grafo (talk) 15:42, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Somehow, I never saw your post back in March. I think your solution is fine, but I think the existence of these museums should be mentioned in the introduction to the "Museums" section with advice to look at the listing for the palace above. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:18, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

@Ikan Kekek: Like this? Also, the list is still pretty long, so I suppose it would make sense to break it up into smaller groups? And then there are lots of smaller museums that may not be of much interest for international travellers; some of them don't even have regular opening hours (like the Fire Brigade Museum). Yes, like that is fine. This guide isn't only for international travelers; there are plenty of English-speakers living in Germany who might have some different interests than a person flying in from Houston or wherever. I've never been to Bayreuth and mainly know it as the storied place for Wagner pilgrimages, so I wouldn't be able to advise you on the specifics of what to list or not list. Alright, in that case there might be some other smaller museums to add (voy:de:Bayreuth#Museen). I thought about grouping them by topic (arts, history, technical), but for some of them that's not easy to determine. post codes

@Hobbitschuster, Ibaman: regarding your edits of post codes (starting here): Is there any rule (of thumb) about when to include postal codes and when not? I know it's important in some cities, where different streets in different districts can have the same name (Berlin#Orientation being a prime example). I don't think there are any such duplicates in the in the core city of Bayreuth, based on personal experience. But as soon as you head out into the Landkreis Bayreuth, you'll find a couple of Bahnhofstraße in the different villages (e.g. Bischhofsgrün, Creußen, Mistelbach). I think the way it's done in the Buy-section kind of makes sense: There, I've used house number and street name only for everything that is in the core city and added postal code and name of the town only for places that are located out in the Landkreis. • This topic has been discussed before, and I recall Hobbitschuster arguing in favor of keeping them for their usefulness and for disambiguating addresses and "different streets in different districts that might have the same name". I think the best solution would be a "postal code" field in the listing editor. If there are people who think they are "clutter" we can make them being displayed an opt-in feature for registered users. I am not quite sure why we did not implement that or a similar solution, whether it was more a failure to achieve consensus or a failure to act upon an achieved consensus... What's up with the "NA" coordinates?

It is not that they do not have a definite location, but I was under the impression they are in Neues Schloss which has a listing with coordinates. If I am wrong then please correct. Or if the place is large enough to warrant markers within its grounds and you know exactly where they are they correct too. --Traveler100 (talk) 21:08, 3 January 2019 (UTC)

Yes, they are all part of the Neues Schloss. The Rummel collection is on the ground floor of the north wing right behind the information/ticket counter. The other two are on the ground floor of the south wing, filling adjacent rooms iirc. If you go there, however, it really just feels like you visit the Neues Schloss with different things to discover in different Rooms. The collections are not advertised as separate things and you may not even notice that the paintings you're looking at are part of the Bavarian State Galleries. It would be possible to set individual markers, but it wouldn't really be helpful on-site unless there was a way to also specify which floor they're on. I'd recommend to leave it like it is now. (The Archeological Museum needs its own marker, though, as it is completely separate). --El Grafo (talk) 13:15, 22 January 2019 (UTC)
