Suggested article Canada without a car edit

To be modeled after United States without a car. Hobbitschuster (talk) 17:42, 4 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Reversion? edit

I haven't looked through the entire edit history, but since the last time I edited this page someone seems to have reverted a few edits, including one revert which reinstated "For non North Americans take extra care to look out for pedestrians, Canadians expect people to be polite and expect cars to stop for them even when when they unexpectedly without looking step out into the road" back. "When when"? What? K7L (talk) 16:00, 7 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Do Canadian speedometers have mph? edit

Can't remember from experience, but the article says:

Unlike in the United States, all road signs in Canada use metric units. Distance and speed are marked in kilometres and kilometres per hour. Most American cars have speedometers that display both units but if yours doesn't, keep in mind that one mile is about 1.6 km.

Does that also mean that Canadian cars also have mph on them, or not? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:11, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

In small print. It is convenient for people who drive across the border. Ground Zero (talk) 12:32, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense. Would it be the same for Mexico as well? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:40, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I have no clue about that. I've never driven in Mexico. Ground Zero (talk) 12:43, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@SHB2000: I think what would be a more attractive banner would be to showcase the spectacular scenery you can see while driving through Canada's national parks or other mountainous areas. Here are some images I have picked out for a possible new banner, but please feel free to look for more:

What do you think?

Ooh, cool photos. I'll get to cropping the banners once I return home. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 21:34, 21 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
There are great pictures in there, any of which would be better than the current banner, but most of which would not make good banners. #4 and #6 are the likeliest candidates to fit into the banner format, IMO. Having driven from coast to coast and much of the way to the third coast, I agree that these are the reasons for driving across Canada. Ground Zero (talk) 22:02, 21 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done, though as GZ mentioned, not all of those images could be cropped into a feasible banner. See File:Driving in CA banner 1.jpg, File:Driving in CA banner 2.jpg, File:Driving in CA banner 3.jpg, File:Driving in CA banner 4.jpg. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:14, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
My favourite is 1, tho. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 10:14, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
My choices in order: #1, 4, 3, 2. Thanks to SHB2000 for doing the cropping. Ground Zero (talk) 11:17, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

To diversify the range a bit, here's a fifth one, but from the Yukon instead (taken from the Dempster in Tombstone TP): File:Driving in CA banner 5.jpg. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 12:00, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for cropping these images. My order of preference would be 1,3,4,5,2. The dog2 (talk) 14:28, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
  Done – clear consensus to use banner 1. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 09:06, 24 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
