Renaming proposal

edit

This region should be named West Michigan. Very few people from the area would refer to it as Western Michigan, which will affect its search engine significance. Some backup: West Michigan Tourism Association, West Michigan Regional Planning Commission, West Michigan Strategic Alliance. —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Skyl4rk (talkcontribs)

The name change sounds fine to me. Please feel free to make the move and update the links yourself—the instructions are here! Also, you can auto-sign your name by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comment. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 01:30, 27 May 2009 (EDT)
See also wikipedia:Talk:Western_Michigan#Page Move and Special:Contributions/70.168.243.234. It sounds like this is a rename that should be made, so I've moved the article. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 14:30, 23 May 2012 (EDT)

Which cities should be listed?

edit

26 are now listed, including some red links. The standard here is no more than 9. So which 9 should they be? Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:46, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I would list Battle Creek, Grand Rapids, Holland, and Muskegon as four that I would believe should automatically remain. Allegan, Kalamazoo, Coldwater, Grand Haven, Holland, and South Haven might still be listable, though that would still be about the limit. --Super Goku V (talk) 07:01, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
I would say you could plunge forward and make the change, but does anyone have any objection? If there are no objections by tomorrow, I think that the change should be made. Thanks for your input! Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:29, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
Looking at WWMT, a local news station, seems to list similar cities. As a suggestion, we might be able to include the removed links in a County article or something similar. Finally, no problem.  :) --Super Goku V (talk) 09:30, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Regions

edit

Could do with created a couple of more regions under West Michigan. Any suggestions? --Traveler100 (talk) 20:47, 23 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

First idea:

  • Grand Rapids Metropolitan Area or Greater Grand Rapids
    • Grand Rapids
    • Wyoming (Michigan)
    • Jenison
    • Ada (Michigan)
    • Sparta (Michigan)
    • Lowell (Michigan)
    • Allendale
  • ?
    • Kalamazoo
    • Battle Creek (Michigan)
    • Marshall (Michigan)

I've created the Grand Rapids Area subregion. I propose grouping Kalamazoo, Battle Creek (Michigan), Coldwater and Marshall (Michigan) as "West Central Michigan" or "Southwestern Michigan". Ground Zero (talk) 13:21, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
