Hello, Csyogi! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Where to link the names of languages edit

Hello, Csyogi, and thanks a lot for adding content to articles about Karnataka!

I just wanted to mention that the names of languages on this site (other than English, which gets linked to nothing) get linked to Wikivoyage phrasebooks about those languages, never to Wikipedia. Please have a look at this edit. For site policy on links to Wikipedia, please read WV:Links to Wikipedia. The short version is that inline links to Wikipedia are not used.

Please feel free to ask any question you like by replying below (and sign posts [on talk pages only] by typing 4 tildes [~] at the end of your posts).

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 13:00, 10 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ikan Kekek, thanks for the info on Wikivoyage phrasebooks. Henceforth, will link languages to phrasebooks and not to Wikipedia. :)

New articles edit

Thanks for creating a few more articles. If you are familiar with these locations, Honavar, Gundlupet and Chamarajnagar, could you possible add some sights that can visited and hotels where people can sleep. Finding empty articles is just frustrating to readers. --Traveler100 (talk) 05:55, 12 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Traveler100, I'm little familiar with Honnavar but not much with Gundlupet and Chamarajnagar. Have updated the Honnavar. Will add more traveller info whenever I visit these. -- Csyogi (talk) 12:02, 13 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Waterfalls edit

Hello and thank you very much for adding content to the Karnataka article and other articles about places in India; that's so helpful and needed! One thing I wonder about, though, is your using redlinks under "Waterfalls" in the Karnataka guide. Waterfalls normally don't get their own article, per Wikivoyage:What is an article, although towns that feature waterfalls certainly can (for example, Niagara Falls (Ontario)).

Also, in general, the "See" section of the Karnataka guide is not optimally organized. Rather than having bulletted lists of sights, it should have highlights set off in bold typeface within prose paragraphs. The "See" section of our one Star-level region guide, Bali, won't provide you with an exact model to emulate, but it might be useful to look at. You can also look at Singapore#See, from our one Star country article, where you'll see bullets, but only for types of attractions, not individual attractions, which are mentioned in prose. United States of America, a Guide-level country article, does have a bulletted list of a sample of museums within its "See" section, but that section is otherwise in prose. Germany#See, also from a Guide-level country article, has bullets only for linked itinerary articles and is otherwise in prose.

See if any of these good articles give you any ideas.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:49, 25 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Ikan for your suggestions and inputs, they are very helpful. It really doesn't make much sense to simply list down all individual waterfall attractions under waterfalls. I've gone through the See sections in the articles you have mentioned and will gradually improve this in Karnataka article. I've modified the Waterfalls now, please see the changes and let me know for further changes. I also intend to make Karantaka regions map per divided regions in the Karnataka article and I will discuss this in its talk page once I'm done. Thank you again. -- Csyogi (talk) 22:48, 26 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
