Thanks for your work on the Charyn Canyon article

edit

Definitely, a very interesting place I didn't know about before. The pictures show that Charyn Canyon is one of many places that is almost as good as some of the sites in the world that are known around the world, but this one's unknown to most. Thanks for sharing about this place. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 22:17, 26 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Maps for Oulanka and Karhunkierros

edit

You wrote it was difficult to find maps for Oulanka. I suppose you had difficulties, while I think maps for Karhunkierros should be sold in any major outdoor store. Were you looking in the wrong places, were they sold out during high season or what was your experience? You also did not mention excursionmap.fi. Did you not find it or did it not work for you (there should be a mobile version also, but I have not tried it)? --LPfi (talk) 17:31, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

By the way, thank you very much for writing the article! --LPfi (talk) 17:32, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
I actually never saw it in a bookstore (tbh I did check only one, and it was in Pori). When planning the trip, we used the brochure and excursionmap.fi, but the interface seemed very user-unfriendly to me, so I rather mentioned mapy.cz, which use the same OpenStreetMaps data (I did not try excursion map mobile). And it is my pleasure, Oulanka is probably the most beautiful place I have been to in my whole life and I felt it should be described here on Wikivoyage. Thanks for correcting it, because as I see now, some of my impressions (such as the map) have not been completely correct. Heisy Bordel (talk) 18:02, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Specialized outdoor stores, the visitor center of the national park and the tourist information of cities and municipalities where the parks are located are likely also places where you can buy maps. ϒpsilon (talk) 18:24, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
I am lucky in this respect as I live in Turku, I am not sure you find suitable stores in Pori, but yes, you should be able to get them in Kuusamo, Ruka or Oulanka (or snailmailed, but not necessarily to abroad). I think excursionmap.fi works well with a desktop machine, now that I am used to it (but I have to allow some third party web sites that I am not happy about). I am glad you liked Oulanka. --LPfi (talk) 18:34, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Prague districts

edit

Hi there.

I see that you would like to improve the coverage on Prague. I have only been there for short trips and thus cannot say whether the current district layout is good, but there was some debate before we arrived at it. Wikivoyage districts are supposed to be always overlap-free and all-encompassing. That means that any given point is in exactly one district. So either something is wrong about the current district layout (I hope not) or the districts you seem to propose would lie within one of the current districts. At any rate, maybe we should change the district layout... Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:08, 8 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, thanks for noting my idea ː) I understand that districts should not overlap, and I suggest changing the layout. I would like to cut out a few districts (at least Prague/Žižkov) from East_bank_of_Vltava, as I think this district is too broad. East Bank currently describes mainly Žižkov, so my idea was to first add information about other places than Žižkov into East Bank article and then remove Žižkov from East Bank and create it a separate article. Later, if there is too much information in East Bank, I would like to cut more districts out of it. Žižkov is actually more or same touristy as Prague/New_Town_and_Vysehrad, so I think it should have its own article. Heisy Bordel (talk, contributions) 21:07, 8 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
