Hello, Mathias -Ahoy! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.

Also, do note one thing. We use British spelling for most of Europe, including Norway (but any terminology can be used), and that has been undone by LPfi. But apart from that, keep up the good work on Tromsø.

All the best,

Star symbols in listings edit

Hi, Mathias -Ahoy. As a matter of style, we don't use star symbols of any kind in listings, but hotel touts often include them, and patrollers don't always notice them. You can see how I edited Los Cristianos here. Thanks for your edit, which tipped me off to the fact that there was a problem in that article, though the bigger problem is that none of the hotel listings include either an address or geocoordinates.

All the best,

I was not too sure about the use of stars myself, but I found the fact that stars were marked with the *-sign confusing. And thought emojis would better/clearer as symbols. I dont mind removing the star ratings all together. don’t think I will be researching the addresses for the hotels. Mathias -Ahoy (talk) 17:45, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
We're all volunteers here. Someone should do it, though. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:06, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Four of five hotels had a Reveron URL, three of which redirected to what seemed to be a hotel elsewhere, and the fourth was also elsewhere. I removed those, and added the address to the fifth. I assume the three redirected ones have been there, but been sold or closed. –LPfi (talk) 20:49, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

User:LPfi There is Nighttime in my zone, and I will probably understand your comment later. When you write that redirections have been sold, you imply the URL, not selling of the actual hotel building. Mathias -Ahoy (talk) 22:06, 11 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

The Reveron hotels were added in the first versions of the article, in 2011. Some of the descriptions tell they are in Los Cristianos, but the URLs now redirect to a hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (if I interpret the web page correctly). The one that doesn't redirect gives another address, also in Santa Cruz. It might be that the addresses are in Santa Cruz only nominally (I don't know the street, nor how large "Santa Cruz" is as address), but I don't feel like doing the research, and I was sort of angered by the redirects, although they might make sense in context of the hotel chain website. –LPfi (talk) 08:00, 12 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
