Greeting
editHello, Mcx8202229! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.
Thanks for adding information on Mudan District, but there are some problems with what you have done.
- First, it is not clear this should exist as a separate article at all; see Wikivoyage:What is an article?. The usual procedure for creating district articles on Wikivoyage is:
- add text to the city article (here Heze) until WV districts are defined
- start a discussion (at Talk:Heze) to define districts for the city. Note that WV districts are chosen to be useful to travellers and often are not the same as the districts used in administration.
- once a district structure is agreed on, create the articles as sub-articles under the city, e.g. Heze/Mudan
- Second, much of what you have added is encyclopedic information and not appropriate for a travel guide.
- The war museum needs a link to World War II in China & probably a link from there as well
Sorry to rain on your parade, & your effort is definitely appreciated. Pashley (talk) 15:42, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
The don't tout guidelines
editHi. I want to make you aware of Wikivoyage:Don't tout. The Royal Hotel International Sanmenxia listing you added in this edit contains touting, according to the description on that page. "It is located in the Sanmenxia Scenic Area, with an elegant environment and convenient transportation" is not about the hotel but about its location, and partly repeats information already in the "address" tab. In general, the description in the "content" tab does not really tell someone who might want to stay at that hotel what their experience is likely to be like. You do say it's a "garden-style hotel," so I guess it has gardens. Could you describe those a little? And what are the rooms like? What does it mean that it's a "comprehensive hotel"? Does it have Jacuzzis and a gym? Please have a look at Wikivoyage:Listings and/or listings in Category:Star articles for examples of the type of content we want in hotel listings. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:38, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- Also, have a look at Wikivoyage:Words to avoid, which include "ideal," as it means "the best possible." Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:56, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reminder, I will correct these points. Mcx8202229 (talk) 09:14, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
- Great. These things are definitely not self-explanatory, so do have a look at those links. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:21, 19 October 2024 (UTC)
