Subcontinent

edit

Hello, and I'd like to join in welcoming you!

I see that you don't like the word "subcontinent"; however, it was necessary to revert your global search-and-replace of the India article because when you change wordings in links, you break the links.

Otherwise, the terms could be changed, but you might want to explain at Talk:India why you don't like the word "subcontinent".

Thanks a lot.

Best,

Hi, we have politely explained that you simply didn't understand what the word 'Subcontinent' meant on your thread here: Talk:India#Replace_void_word_with_correct_regional_word.
You then went ahead and started changed on South Asia. This has been reversed.
If you want to keep arguing on Talk:India about the definition of this well established geographical term, then by all means you can keep trying. You must however stop changing the word 'Subcontinent' in articles until such time you have consensus to do so. I'm asking this in good faith. --Andrewssi2 (talk) 21:30, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
On a fair note, If its a well established geograhic term then why don't you call wherever you come from it too, here on wikivoyage?...I have ancestery from a western nation and both of my parents are western hencefourth & all I can tell you very politely is that, I just like many of my fellow dissendents from there and some other western nations; we are certainly ashamed and are not at all proud of any colonial wrath & evil that came from PAST colonism! However it's worth fixing nowadays! And here on wikivoyage, here and there, I hope to do so. And I hope to achieve this consensus for justified, fair & equal articles or statements for the good of everyone.
By the way, you can just reply to me here on the same thread. No need to write on my page.
If you think the word 'subcontinent' is colonial or even political in nature then you are wrong. Nothing personal.
Again, feel free to keep debating on that page, but it is obvious from all other comments that everyone else believes that you are wrong as well. Andrewssi2 (talk) 01:39, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
As someone with Indian ancestry, subcontinent isn't offensive or colonialist at all. Political correctness gone overboard. The name has its roots in geology when the Indian landmass hit the Eurasian plate 55 million years ago. Gizza (roam) 01:58, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
