Wikivoyage:Banner suggestions

This is where you can list suggestions for page banners, for articles which don't currently have a unique page banner. Please provide a link to the image file either on Wikimedia Commons or Flickr next to the link of the article name for which the banner is suggested. You can also suggest the position of the crop, bearing in mind that the crop must have a width to height ratio of 7:1, and that the resulting cropped image must be at least 1800 pixels wide (and ideally at least 2100 pixels).

This page should only be used to suggest a new banner in one of the following situations:

  1. The article currently has one of the default monochrome page banners.
  2. The existing banner doesn't meet the technical requiements for banner dimensions - it is less than 1800 pixels wide, or does not have a 7:1 aspect ratio.
  3. The existing banner (or the photo it was cropped from) is nominated for deletion on Commons.
  4. There is agreement to replace the banner (or no response after 7 days) in a discussion on the article's talk page. Please put a note about this discussion on Wikivoyage:Requests for comment.

If you make a banner from one of these suggestions, please leave a link to it after the suggestion, add the Yes Done template and sign. You can write "taken" after the suggestion while you are busy to prevent others from duplicating your work.

Having many more people involved in the process of finding suitable free CC source photos for our page banners (especially people who don't have the skills or facilities to create page banners themselves), that exist on either Flickr or Wikimedia Commons, greatly helps speed up the process of creating all the missing banners.

It is recommended to search for available photos on Wikimedia Commons, the image repository that Wikivoyage uses. You can also look for free CC photos on Flickr or using search.creativecommons.org (make sure that both check marks at the top are marked). For example, in many instances you might increase chances of finding good relevant photos by using the following search queries syntax on both Flickr and Wikimedia Commons - "{Destination name} panorama", or "{Destination name} panoramic", or "{Destination name} skyline", or "{Destination name} downtown".

I suggest the banner image of Seoul/Songpa(Link-> https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Seoul/Songpa)

cropped image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lotte_World_Tower_near_Cheongdam_Bridge_crop.jpg original image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lotte_World_Tower_near_Cheongdam_Bridge.jpg --Yunjinlee (talk) 06:30, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is a already a banner on Seoul/Songpa. This was deleted by accident last month, but I have just restored it. If you wish to replace the existing banner, please discuss it on Talk:Seoul/Songpa; this page is for suggesting banners for articles which don't have a banner. There is a already a banner on Seoul/East. If you wish to replace the existing banner, please discuss it on Talk:Seoul/East; this page is for suggesting banners for articles which don't have a banner. I also don't think that this photo would make a good banner when cropped to 7:1, File:Dongdaemun Gate or Heunginjimun gate.jpg would look better. AlasdairW (talk) 14:53, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
