Wikivoyage:Tourist office/Archives/2017/September

Hi, as this was essentially a shopping guide question (hence it's here rather on the Refdesk at Wikipedia), do any contributors here have any thoughts on were to get physical albums for the music in the electro, synthwave and other genres (preferably on CD) in London? The place I used to know in West London seems to have gone much more mainstream, and chain-outlets seem to be declining.

I am probably more inclined to look for "independent" record shops and market stalls than chains like HMV though.

Although I have different musical tastes, I would suggest looking in at Oxfam Music in Ealing if you are nearby. I have bought a few CDs from another branch of this charity secondhand shop. The volunteer staff are usually keen on music, and you might also get some recommendations of other places to try. AlasdairW (talk) 20:36, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikivoyage in Turkey

Wikipedia is blocked on Turkey. Is Wikivoyage accessible there? Thank you. Ground Zero (talk) 03:50, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Do we have someone here who could get this confirmed either way? Hobbitschuster (talk) 21:43, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeap, Wikivoyage is fully accessible in Turkey, thankfully. However, since the blocking of WP until a couple days ago, Commons was blocked as well, which meant that no pictures, banners or maps were visible throughout the WV pages - only text and some ugly markup instead of the images, etc were all you could view. In what castle was this image taken?

I can't pinpoint which exact castle it is, but given the round towers and the apparently slightly mountainous terrain at the horizon, I would say it's somewhere either in eastern Central or Southeastern Europe. ϒpsilon (talk) 06:47, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Nice I had the feeling it's France, after seeing "The ninth gate" and "Kingdom of Heaven". 79.180.1.206 07:42, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If anyone knows the exact castle, please share with us. 79.180.1.206 07:42, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's Carcassonne. Not a castle, but a fortified medieval city. The cones were added in the 19th century to make it look "more authentic". Best wishes, --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 12:21, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There's a board game based on the city. If you have leisure to try it out, do. Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:38, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's legendary. --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 22:27, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's now mentioned in the lede. And it is indeed legen - wait for it, but not if you're lactose intolerant cause the second half of this word is - dairy. Legendary. Hobbitschuster (talk) 12:27, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
:-) Christmas cracker joke writers beware, there's a new comedian in town. --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 13:45, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well, actually, I stole that one from Neil Patrick Harris, or rather his character, Barney Stinson... Hobbitschuster (talk) 13:59, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
