Cheap flight?

Hi, found this really good deal on a flight from Tampa Fl to dusseldorf. $550 for 7 day august round trip, much lower than the average ticket price for that month. Most of the other prices on this site are really low? Just want some peice of mind is this legit?

Average ticket price is around $1200 for that month according to google flights.

Quickly looking at this, there are several catches:

The price quoted on the first page is for the outbound flight only.
The cheapest price is with no luggage
Some of the flights involve a change of airport in London - although there is time for this, and maybe you can get half a day sightseeing in London, you will have to allow for the cost (£50 - $100) of this, and carry your bags between airports.

As an example, I selected a cheap flight including baggage, and the total came to $1,290.94. With online booking pages, you have to carry on almost until you are entering card details to be sure of the price. AlasdairW (talk) 22:30, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Kayak is a legitimate site. $700 doesn't sound implausible for a round trip flight between the US and Europe, but I haven't flown that route in a few years so I may be misremembering. Sometimes flights can be priced unusually low due to specials or errors on the part of the airline, but they will still honor the low price (as long as you make the booking before the price goes up). I agree with what AlasdairW said above too—the price they quote is usually less than you'll ultimately pay. On some websites (but not Kayak) the quote doesn't even include taxes, which I find extremely frustrating. —Granger (talk · contribs) 22:58, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Where do you live? The Kayak flight appears to be a return ticket from Dusseldorf to Tampa, the mirror image of the BA flight above. It becomes $949 if you are starting from Tampa. Both are reputable websites, but you have to take care in using them. You may find the articles on Flying, Travel agencies and Aggregators useful. AlasdairW (talk) 23:22, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, flying into CGN, FRA or even STR can end up cheaper than flying into DUS even if Düsseldorf is your final destination. rail travel in Germany is pretty good and several airlines participate in air rail alliances Hobbitschuster (talk) 23:40, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Checked the other airports you mentioned. They are all about the same price. The cheap $700 to 750 round tr ip does include a overnight layover which may mean additional hotel costs.

And prices seem to vary more based on season/month than airport from what Ive seen. I would like to go in March or October when prices are even lower. But I don't know what my schedule will be like then for work and personal life.

I found a $669 round trip on Kiwi, which is even cheaper. Not sure if I should trust Kiwi.com as ive heard mixed things about them.

Websites to Find Travel partners/groups

I'm an international student presently located in Illinois, & this is my first year in America. I'm considering hitch-hiking &/or biking from Illinois to Alaska & back through this summer. I'm afraid though to do this alone, because I'm a female, & this is the first time I'd do this, so I'm trying to search online for people who want to travel along too. However, I'm finding difficulty finding sites &/or forums &/or social media pages to find people who may hitchhike or bike with me. Can you recommend any websites that you know for this purpose?

That hitchhiking and picking up hitchhikers are inherently dangerous and reckless activities is a popular conception, or misconception, among Americans. This might very well make a trip like you propose impractical. Not only will you likely have a hard time finding people online who are willing to do this with you, but even if you elect to do it alone you'll likely have a hard time finding drivers on the road who are willing to pick you up. (As a woman, that last part may be somewhat less true of you than it would be of a man, given that men are perceived as more physically threatening. But then again, as a woman, you face a whole other set of potential pitfalls once you do accept that ride, as you alluded to in your original post.)

To quote from a Thrillist article on the subject: "There's a small handful of carpooling apps operating stateside, including Coride and Zimride (which is actually a subsidiary of Enterprise Rent-A-Car)." If you really want to try ridesharing your way across America, those are probably the best places to start your search, but again, don't get your hopes up too high: the article continues, "Have you heard of them? Yeah, no. That's the thing: none of them are popular, which suggests that Americans aren't really into hitching rides."

"Crazy golf" to the NW of London...

Does anyone know where you can play a round of 'crazy golf' in the area just outside the M25?

There used to be a simple course in Hemel Hempstead, but my memory of this is at least 30 years old, and I'd like some updated information if people have it.
