Egypt
editEgypt is in Africa and the Middle East, but that doesn't mean it should be listed twice. I'd rather simply list it in Africa, as excluding it from Africa was a commonplace ploy of white racists who wanted to deny that Egypt was "really" part of Africa, but we have to pick a choice. So which one is it gonna be? Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:44, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
- And in 2021, this is still unresolved. It doesn't make sense to be redundant. I think we should have only continents, get rid of "Middle East" and move everything in the Asian Near East to Asia. The Turkish sites should also go to Asia, I figure, since the great bulk of the country is in Asia. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:15, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- It seems all the sites listed for Egypt are in Africa and all for Turkey in Asia, so there is no reason to have the countries listed for both continents. Middle East may be an interesting region, but I guess there are several others that would make sense, and we don't have the number of listings to justify splitting up continents. –LPfi (talk) 07:16, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- I agree. If no-one objects, I'll take care of this tomorrow if I feel up to it (I'm getting my 2nd Pfizer shot tomorrow). Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:01, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Egypt is listed in Africa in our geographic hierarchy, so it should be listed on its continent here, too. Good luck with round 2. I am envious: I may not get my second until August. Ground Zero (talk) 09:24, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- You already had your first and may have to wait so long? I have no idea what that does to efficacy. As terrible as things were in the U.S. last year (and are now in Michigan, etc.), it's really sad to see what's happening in Canada. Stay safe and well! Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:19, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. I got the first in early April. Efficacy for AstraZeneca increases as the jabs are spread apart from two weeks to three months. Canada is extending this to four months, and it's not clear what this will do to efficacy. If supplies increase, we may get it earlier. Giving up our vaccine production facilities has been a big mistake. New facilities are being built, but won't produce until the end of this year. The Prime Minister, being just a lad of 49 years, didn't get his first jab until last week. Ground Zero (talk) 12:25, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- I moved the listings to Africa and Asia accordingly. I also moved a couple of images around and removed the last one, which was tall and in my opinion exceeded the Image policy#Minimal use of images guidelines. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:18, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Alternative banner for this article?
editI have previously created an alternative banner for this article (which was initially created for the parallel article at the Hebrew Wikivoyage, but I decided to suggest we'll use it here at the English Wikivoyage article as well). Which banner do you prefer that we'll use on the top of this article? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 13:31, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- I don't think that the new banner is better. I prefer the current banner. It's a more interesting picture, and as Wikivoyage is skewed towards European content, let's keep non-Euro subjects where we can. Ground Zero (talk) 18:58, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Even without considering the locations, I slightly prefer the existing banner. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:27, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- I like the aerial perspective of the current banner. Gizza (roam) 02:24, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- I mildly prefer the second one because it gives a clearer, more detailed, view of ruins. Pashley (talk) 04:07, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- I also like the aerial perspective of the current, and who can say no to the Machu Picchu? --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:19, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
