Should this user have autopatroller
edit@shb2000 should this user be autopatrolled as it is owned by an admin Tai123.123 (talk) 02:16, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- It is a legitimate alt account of ACF, although he uses this account mainly on Commons, not here (because of SUL issues). Regardless, there's no harm done in giving AP rights here so I'll do that right in a sec. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 02:56, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you. Please feel free to consider User:AndreCarrotflower a dead account, at Wikivoyage as well as everywhere else on the WMF. To all my friends and colleagues: yes, I am alive and well and in good spirits, and the reason why I'm in good spirits is because I'm not constantly on this site coming face to face with my memories of pre-COVID life when travel was normal and predictable. I do plan to return to active Wikivoyage duty once the current situation abates, and things settle into some stable state whereby I won't have to worry about whether the thing I'm writing about today will still apply tomorrow. But when that happens, I intend to do so using this account only, and hopefully there'll be no controversy around transferring the other account's sysop privileges. -- Andre Carrotflower (talk) 03:29, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- That's reasonable and good to hear. What are "SUL issues"? Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:41, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- SUL issues = Single user login issues. perhaps see c:User:Andre Carrotflower into why they have two accounts. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 05:01, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hi all, I only just saw this conversation. It’s good to see your intention to return, Andre, but I think if you’re switching to this account it would be sensible to de-sysop the old account and transfer the bureaucrat right to here, if we haven’t done that yet, for account security. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 20:50, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- That makes sense. -- Andre Carrotflower (talk) 04:14, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- Pinging @Ikan Kekek:. 'crat removal requests have to go through m:SRP. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 04:23, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- What's the plan? To switch the bit to this account now? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:03, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not too sure, but I believe Andre is going to use this account from now on SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:39, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- In response to Ikan Kekek's question, I have proposed to switch the rights to this account, and Andre appears to be in agreement. As SHB2000 notes this would have to be approved via m:SRP, but it shouldn't raise controversy under the circumstances. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 14:41, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
- The admin privileges shouldn't be an issue, but the 'crat privileges are. But even 'crat privileges also shouldn't be too big of a problem, since I also believe Ypsilon also has another account for Commons (Ypsilon from Finland) meaning Andre isn't the only person who has the WT to WY merge issue. - Yeah, back when this project was named Wikitravel and not a WMF project (2010?) I wanted to open an account to edit Wikipedia and Ypsilon was already taken. Not sure if it's possible to merge them, but until that I use the YfF account to edit other WMF projects (in practice uploading photos to commons) and this account to edit Wikivoyage.
