Ebyabe
Hello, Ebyabe! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.--ϒpsilon (talk) 18:05, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
Florida Heartland articles
Thank you for contributing to Wikivoayage, hope you continue. Please however note that this is not Wikipedia and should be more than an index of places. It would be great if you could add some information to the towns you have created. What is worth seeing there, where to stay and what are good eating places? People visiting this site will only get frustrated and leave if they only click through to pages with no information. --Traveler100 (talk) 05:46, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your contributions. I made one small change [1] - per WV:Geographical hierarchy#Linking articles every city is typically listed in one region article, so that those browsing the hierarchy can find it. In this case, even though the cities might not have much to see, browsing from Florida → Florida Heartland would still at least provide a link for someone looking for that article. Hope that makes sense! -- Ryan • (talk) • 17:37, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, wasn't aware of that. Still learning the ropes, doncha know. Thanks for the fixing, and the info. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 17:41, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
Historical building indices
Hi, User:Ebyabe. Thanks a lot for adding content to this site! I've been deleting red links to National Register of Historic Places because Wikivoyage has no article about it and I'm not sure what article we could redirect the term to, if any. But I also have a question for you: You mention A Guide to Florida's Historic Architecture in the Okeechobee article. Is that guide put out by an official governmental or quasi-governmental organization? If so, and especially if it can be read online, it would be helpful to add a web link to that title.
I'm glad you're here to help our coverage and look forward to working with you more.
All the best,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:10, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note! I was going to remove the NRHP redlinks, but thanks for getting to them first. :)
- The book was put out by the Florida chapter of the American Institute Of Architects. So not governmental, but professional. I don't think it's readable online. I see it's for sale on Amazon. I got a copy a few years back when I first learned about it. It's such a great resource for historic buildings and districts throughout the state.
- Look forward to being here. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 21:28, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I think that a professional guide of that type would be OK to link, though I'd say it's definitely possible others won't consider that it passes muster under the external links#what not to link to policy. But it's surely notable, not a competing travel guide, I'd think, and clearly mentionable. Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:05, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
Banners
Thanks for putting up those great banners! Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:29, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
- You're welcome! I'm on a tear. I wanted to do banners for the Florida regions first. I have so many pictures I've taken around the state and uploaded to Wikimedia that I could just do that for a while. But I guess I'll add verbal content too. :) I see the policy is not to overwhelm articles with pictures, which is sensible. But with so many great photos available on Commons, I am a bit surprised there aren't more. Anyhoo, cheers! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 21:33, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
- Don't worry too much about that policy. If you've got a lot of great photos and posting them on a page doesn't cause them to go past the text, go for it. Some star articles with a decent helping of images include Borobudur, Nusa Lembongan, Ubud, Paris/1st arrondissement, Washington, D.C./Shaw, Along the Magnificent Mile....You can look through more of the Star articles at your leisure, but I think that as long as the photos are not interfering with reading but making it more pleasant, and as long as you aren't tempted to create montages or galleries with a bunch of small images the reader can't really see, keep inserting them into articles. If you go too far, a thumbnail can be removed easily. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:28, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Periods
Hi, and thanks as always for adding so much content! It's a small point, but I'd just like to remind you to please put periods at the end of every "content" tab in every listing you add, such as in this edit to Port St. Joe.
Thanks again!
All the best,
Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:05, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hey! Oops, didn't know that was a thing. Makes sense tho. Added them. I've also learned the preferred format here for phone #s too (+1). Thanks. ;) --Ebyabe (talk) 21:14, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Awesome banner!
DAZ14LPA here to say that the banner on the Treasure Coast page is great. Do you think you can give me tips, please for the Port St. Lucie page, since you have been in and around Florida (i.e. ideal buildings for pictures, good photo areas, etc.) DAZ14LPA (talk) 23:17, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! It's true, I've been all over our great state. :) My big thing over on Wikipedia is the National Register of Historic Places. I was on a mission to visit and get photos of all the sites in Florida, and I've been about 90% successful. I also would take photos of other stuff of interest along the way (museums, bridges, highways, etc.) There are buckets of photos on WikiCommons. You can check through the Florida category for options. Just don't go overboard. :) As far as banners, I wanted to do one for each Florida region, which has been accomplished. Now it's doing the cities and such. One of my considerations is contrast (being able to see the section links on the banner). I tend to weight right, that is, more empty space on the left. Anyhoo, cheers! :)
- Thanks a bunch for your tips. I cannot thank you enough. Fort Pierce's banner looks amazing. You are doing great things, great things! DAZ14LPA (talk) 22:07, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you so much back! That's the A1A bridge to Hutchinson Island, as seen from Veteran's Memorial Park. I had stopped there to see the CeeCee Lyles statue, while on the way to Fort Pierce Inlet State Park. The view of the bridge was so great I had to take at least one picture. I do like that area of Florida. It's a bit built up, but there are still long stretches of beach and wilderness-y views. I don't think it'll get as bad as South Florida, and I say that having grown up in Miami. Btw, if you like Italian food, I can't recommend Casa Mia in Jupiter highly enough. A bit pricey, but probably the most authentic Italian food I've ever had. So good I've thought of going there for my birthday. Anyway, cheers! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 00:30, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I'll go on a photo spree around St. Lucie West and downtown.DAZ14LPA (talk) 18:36, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

- Quick question, but what do you think is the best area in PSL is best to take a picture of, St. Lucie West, Tradition, or the Civic Center area? Let me know. DAZ14LPA (talk) 19:39, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- I don't know the area well enough to make an informed comment. Which is purtier? :) --Ebyabe (talk) 19:17, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
- When I'm out and about, I'll take some pictures in each area, and I'll post them on my page and you can vote for which is best. I'll take the best pictures in each location. What do you think about that for an idea? DAZ14LPA (talk) 22:13, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
- Scratch that idea. I'll do my best to photograph Tradition, St. Lucie West, and the "downtown". Donny (talk) 19:45, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Please note
Hey there. Thanks for your work on our Florida articles! A couple of points to watch out for:
- Only bottom-level regions should have a complete list of cities. Intermediate-level articles like Florida Gold Coast which are further subdivided into smaller regions, should never have more than 9 cities listed.
- Any given banner can only be used in one article; we don't reuse them at different levels or in different articles.
Let me know if you have any question! Thanks! Texugo (talk) 18:30, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, forgot about that 9 cities limit. That shouldn't happen again, as I've gone through all the Florida regions. Sorry 'bout that.
- I didn't know about not using banners on more than one page. That's fine, there's lots more photos available on Commons from which to make banners. But good to know, since I'm going to bannerize as many Florida articles as possible. Cheers! --Ebyabe (talk) 13:33, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
