Hello, Tesleemah! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.

Thanks for your recent contributions to the Iyere article. I have implemented the standard article format used on Wikivoyage. It would be great if you could write information based on the new headings I have added. I would also recommend taking a look at MoS.

Thanks again! All the best, --Comment by Selfie City (talk) (contributions) 04:58, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Copypasta? edit

The article you started about Ifon looks like raw copy-pasting. Read Wikivoyage:Copyleft and please tell us why we shouldn't delete the article for you to start over without copyright violation. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:48, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Regardless, that content is not suitable for a travel guide but rather for an encyclopedia. I've removed it. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 09:52, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Isn't mere removal of copyright violation insufficient? Don't we need to delete the article? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:53, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I've revdeled it so there's no need for deletion. The copyrighted material can no longer be seen by anyone except admins, stewards and the Ombuds commission. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 09:57, 26 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi, Tesleemah. Would you please stop copy-pasting from sites with copyright notices on them and also please keep in mind what Wikivoyage style and goals are? This is neither a blog nor an encyclopedia; it's a travel guide. Some brief, summarized background information is fine. A whole bunch of stuff from a copyrighted blog that's incorrectly formatted for this site is not fine. Thanks. And now please write a travel article for Ifon. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:04, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I have blocked you for 31 hours for copyright violations. Please respond to the messages given to you by Ikan, and your block will be lifted. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 09:07, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Re-Violation of copypasta edit

I'm still working on the article, just that I'm pasting directly from the source here ...it's not like that's how I'm going to leave Tesleemah (talk) 09:10, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you need to copy and paste the content in order to edit it, why don't you copy it to some kind of word processing program on your own computer and edit it suitably before moving it here? Copying and pasting stuff here is per se copyright violation, regardless of whether you edit it later. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:38, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Ikan Kekek, sorry for butting in here almost a year too late. Just wanted to say that not everyone has access to a computer with word-processing. Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 03:20, 26 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
You can also use apps like "Notes" on almost any cellphone. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:49, 26 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
On top of what Ikan said, this includes adding it in hidden text as well. Copyvios aren't allowed on this site, even on userpages and user subpages. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 09:48, 27 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Page banners for Ajapa edit

Tesleemah, I was adjusting the size of this page banner to the 7:1 ratio we use in Wikivoyage. I noticed that the original file in the Wikimedia Commons is categorised under Ghana, not Nigeria. I have removed the picture room the article. Do you know that this is a picture of Ajapa? If so, we can put it back in the article. If it isn't of Ajapa, then we shouldn't use it in the Ajapa article. Thank you for your contributions. Ground Zero (talk) 23:06, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
