Summer of Wikivoyage 2021 Kosovo and Albania
editThe Wikimedians of Albanian Language User Group is organizing its annual campaign Summer of Wikivoyage 2021 Kosovo and Albania to improve the content on these countries on Wikivoyage in English, during the month of July.
The campaign will take place 7 July - 1 August and lead to the online/offline editathon to be held on the weekend of 31 July and 1 August.
Here are the Albania and Kosovo expedition pages. We will focus on the mountainous region of northeastern Albania but you may write about any destination.
The editathon online will take place on Jitsi.
You can also edit without joining the call. Please register for tracking the contributions on the campaign page on Outreach Dashboard. --Arianit (talk) 13:11, 7 July 2021 (UTC)

- @SHB2000: maybe it would be a good idea to set up a discussion page such as the one set up for Nigeria? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 17:33, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
- Great! Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:21, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
- Yep. Sounds like a good idea to me. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 00:20, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

- Joined. Won't be doing too much content related, but I'll be able to help out the new editors, similar to the Nigeria expedition. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 01:53, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Oops, I accidentally joined thinking it was for tracking. Is there a way to unregister? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 01:54, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- @SHB2000, SelfieCity: Thank you! No other specific help needed at this time. We look forward to the results! —The preceding comment was added by Arianit (talk • contribs)
- No worries. p.s. don't forget to sign your comments with four tildes at the end (like this:~~~~) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:46, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
How do I start an article?
editThis hasn't been asked, but I may as well answer it.
So, want to start an article, but don't know how to. Well, I've got it all covered here.
So first up, does your article pass wiaa? So in a nutshell, only major airports get their own articles on Wikivoyage. Sorry for using a British example here (I'm not from Britain either, so I may be wrong). So something big like London Heathrow would get its own article, and it does, but something like a small airport like single terminal airports like the Isle of Man airport can just be covered in a city article's #By plane section. I've made this mistake a couple of months ago as well (see this page for what I'd done). Bus terminals, train terminals, ferry terminals, tram terminals, metro terminals. You've got it. Don't get its own article, and belong in a city's By bus or whatever's get in section. Individual articles also do not get their own articles as well, and they belong in a city article. So, what gets its own article? Well, a city, a town, a village, a national park, an itinerary, that have interest for a traveller to stay for a night, or a popular day trip.
Your second step is what is the article's name. Mind wv:capitalization. Enter the article's name in the box on the top right hand corner of your screen, and click the red link. You'll see the following.
To start, please click on one of the following links to pre-fill this article with the standard sections:
City • City District • Region • National Park • Phrasebook • Huge airport • Dive site • Disambiguation • Redirect
If its a city, town, village, hamlet or a rural area, click the city option. Regions should generally only be created after the cities are complete. Popular state parks would have the same format as National Park. Phrasebook for a completely new language. Huge airport is as I mentioned, for big airports.
For cities and parks, you can also substitute the template in my just writing {{subst:city}}, {{subst:smallcity}}, {{subst:park}} and so on.
I'll provide another explanation on itineraries tomorrow, or maybe later today.
Any questions, queries, or any clarification needed. Pop in by my talk page. If you're not autoconfirmed, then leave one at User talk:SHB2000/IP talk page (protected against a certain WMF banned user).
Cheers, --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 12:11, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
