geting to st helena

Hi are there any other ships calling at ST Helend apart from the RMS . March/ April Asked by: 82.47.41.40 15:49, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

According to the island's cruise ship schedule, there's exactly one other ship during these months. The MV Astor of Cruise and Maritime voyages will be call at Jamestown April 9th on a cruise from Australia via southern Africa to the UK. In addition, there may be private ships of different sizes visiting. BTW, the island's airport is scheduled to open sometime later this year and this will mean that flights from South Africa will replace the RMS St Helena. Two hours in Turku

I and my girlfriend are going on a Viking Line cruise from Turku to Stockholm and back on the weekend. We won't have time to actually visit Stockholm but will be staying on the ship for the whole time. The ship is Viking Grace. We already have plenty of things to do on the ship: go to the buffet on the trip to Stockholm, and on the way back go to the spa (I've never been there) and then go to Oscar's à la carte. But our train from Helsinki arrives in Turku a bit over two hours before the ship leaves. That leaves us from one to two hours to spend in Turku, either in the centre or in the harbour. We won't have time to go elsewhere. What is there to do in Turku in this short time? This is already next Saturday. Asked by: JIP (talk) 20:58, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wien Flughafen and Wien Hauptbahnhof

I already wrote earlier that I'm going by aeroplane from Helsinki to Vienna in the summer, and continuing from Vienna to Pörtschach am Wörthersee. I already have the aeroplane tickets. I think I can consult ÖBB on how to buy the train tickets (there's pretty much a direct RailJet connection between Vienna and Pörtschach). But how much time do I need between arriving at Wien Flughafen and departing from Wien Hauptbahnhof, or vice versa? I should imagine at least two to three hours. Will this be enough, or do I need even more? The best I can do is a bit under five hours, and even that will be a stretch. Asked by: JIP (talk) 22:48, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The airport is less than 20 minutes by train from the Hbf. You can check train frequencies at the time you will be traveling. Of course you will need to decide how long to allow for flight delays, reclaiming baggage, and all that. --05:15, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
To be on the safe side, I bought ÖBB tickets that allow me for about three and a half hours of time in between on both trips (Vienna to Pörtschach and Pörtschach to Vienna). On the trip to Pörtschach, I have to change trains at Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof, I have 12 minutes time for the change. Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof is so small that it shouldn't be a problem to walk to the correct platform in that time, but how do I know what the correct platform is? My ticket doesn't say. If I miss the train, can I buy a new ticket at the station or on the train? The connection between Klagenfurt and Pörtschach is a local S1 train, the cities are far too near each other to have a separate RailJet connection. How often do trains go between the two cities anyway? I can afford to wait an hour or two at Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof for the next train, but not until next morning, I have to already be in Pörtschach by that time. Manali to Dalhousey

1.) Best route? 2.) Best transportation mode? 3.) Price(approx.)of travelling? Asked by: 1.39.12.176 07:27, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @1.39.12.176:, you may want to ask User:Vinayakwrites (although they haven't edited Wikivoyage since June 2013) or User:Manali citizen (they haven't edited since April 2014) about this as they seem to know quite a bit about Manali. Although, a web search reveals that there are no direct flights, trains or buses between the two places. One website suggests that you take a taxi from Manali to Hamirpur, then a bus to Dalhousie - which it says costs ₹3010 and takes 9 and a quarter hours. The same website then suggests one route, which would cost ₹1850 and take 15 and a half hours, from Manali to Jalandhar by bus, to Pathankot by train, then finally to Dalhousie by bus.  Seagull123  Φ  22:42, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Photo requests

Is there any WV page where one can make requests of people who plan to travel to such-and-such a place? I'm looking for a photo of a Monrovia landmark for a Wikipedia article, and I can't find anything on Commons, so I'd like to leave a request such as "If you're going to Monrovia, could you get a photo of X". I'll try to remember to check back here, but if there's a response and I don't say anything, bug me at my en:wp or Commons talk pages. Thanks! Nyttend (talk) 17:15, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know we don't have such a page. Could be useful to have, but possibly it'd be better to create it at Commons; while average Wikivoyagers probably travel more than people on average, English WV still has just about 30-40 regular users (logging in at least once a month). Use on the Wikipedia page of the subject the Template Photo requested. --Traveler100 (talk) 20:10, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You could also post to the article's talk page. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:38, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Snake bite

What's your question? Ikan Kekek (talk) 13:35, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Could be "How can I bite a snake?" --176.239.17.190 19:36, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In case you are bitten by one, you may want to check out our article about the snakes, but before doing that attend the nearest hospital as soon as possible. Vidimian (talk) 09:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

California State Route 78

The photo captioned as SR 78 in the Anza- Borrego Desert State Park, looking east should instead by captioned as Yaqui Pass Road connecting the town of Borrego Springs with SR 78, looking north at the Santa Rosa Mountains. Asked by: ElkeWylie (talk) 04:25, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's best to raise the issue at the very article's talk page. ϒpsilon (talk) 19:42, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you need specific legal advice consult a professional, but the following is relevant to the situation in the UK : https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/using-the-road-159-to-203 - See rules 171 & 172. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 09:33, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
From the diagram, I think it's safe to assume that the question was not about the UK. --69.159.61.172 19:28, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A few hours in Tallinn in late May or early June

I just won a voucher for a free trip from Helsinki to Tallinn from the beginning of May to the end of June. In practice, this means the last weekend of May or the first weekend of June. I can't spare any days off work, and I have already booked every single weekend in May and June. The trip is a "day trip to Tallinn", I leave Helsinki in the morning, spend three to four hours in Tallinn, and arrive back to Helsinki in the evening on the same day. Can anyone suggest what is there to see at that time? Are there any special events? I have already been to Tallinn often enough just to see the city. I will probably have just about enough time to go to the outskirts of the city, but nowhere near enough time to travel to other cities in Estonia. Asked by: JIP (talk) 21:02, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I remember you asking a similar question about Tallinn a year or two ago and as then I'll also now suggest checking out the city's official event calendar for these days. There seems to be some medieval event in the old town, many art and other exhibitions, some classical music events, a flower event and a bicycle event. Central Park

Is it dangerous to visit Central Park after dark? 2601:646:8E01:515D:2895:7463:4D66:9781 01:55, 28 March 2016 (UTC) Asked by: 2601:646:8E01:515D:2895:7463:4D66:9781 01:55, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'd generally say no. Which part of the park would you be visiting, at what time of night? Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:20, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In the evening some time (after sunset but definitely before 10 PM), not late at night -- and I don't know yet which part. So, that place got a lot safer in the past 20 years or so (as did most of the city), right? 2601:646:8E01:515D:2895:7463:4D66:9781 05:26, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, exactly. I don't think you'll have much reason to worry. I'm not sure I'd walk in the North Woods at 10 PM, but even there, it probably would be OK. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:44, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just checked the map -- we'll be staying mostly south of the reservoir. So I guess the main danger is losing our way, right?  :-) 2601:646:8E01:515D:2895:7463:4D66:9781 06:33, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, no issue. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:37, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

American Westward movement

Asked by: 173.81.202.205 15:18, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! What exactly is your question? Does some of our North American history travel articles maybe contain what you're looking for or are you looking for more encyclopedical information? --ϒpsilon (talk) 15:33, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Or perhaps something about the fact that the Atlantic Ocean is becoming wider and America thus drifting westwards, as seen from this side of the pond – a reason why Europe uses ETRS89 instead of WGS84. Also for that Wikipedia seems a better source. --LPfi (talk) 17:34, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
