h what does a comment look like?

Like this.

just a quick way to add something to the discussion page?

Yep, pretty much.

So you just have to type what you want onto the page, and then click the "this is a minor edit" and then click the Save page button at the bottom of the page?

hi

User Eve

This would be a comment. (WT-en) Charles 12:46, 31 Jan 2006 (EST)

How do you post your own images? And how do write new articles? Like say about a undiscovered railfan hideaway spot? -rustingfreight 2:10 (cst)

Project:Help and Project:How to have some articles that explain how to do these things. - (WT-en) Todd VerBeek 15:18, 24 May 2007 (EDT)

Graffiti wall

edit

Archived from the Pub:

I'm using the graffiti wall to print some devanagiri. (WT-en) Upamanyuwikivoyage( Talk )( (WT-en) Travel ) • 00:28, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Done. I'v reverted it to the last version. For some obscure reason, MS word does not support devanagiri so I printed it out from the graffiti wall. I might use it later for the same purpose. (WT-en) Upamanyuwikivoyage( Talk )( (WT-en) Travel ) • 05:45, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

testing this little itty bitty note

Should we make newbies more aware of this page?

edit

...for instance by mentioning it in the standard welcome message? Currently this page is edited very infrequently and I think there are many more new users who would be interesting in a sandbox page for experimenting around but have no idea that this one exists. Not sure if this has been added yet, but I might check it out. Usersnipedname (talk) 07:06, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Seems like it has been. Usersnipedname (talk) 07:08, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I agree that newbies like me should be more aware, I didn't know until Granger just messaged me saying welcome and briefed me on some things (thank you, Granger).

Category:Wikivoyage help?

edit

I reverted a bunch of crap, and now it says I added this page to Category:Wikivoyage help? That's absurd! The graffiti wall is not a place to look for help! I don't understand how I added it to that category or how to remove it from that category. If you do understand this, please remove it from that category, and thank you! Is this more trouble than it's worth?

edit

Most websites don't have a graffiti wall. This page requires patrolling because many of the edits are destructive in one way or another. Do we benefit from facilitating them? Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:45, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps move to Wikivoyage:Sandbox instead? DannyS712 (talk) 23:04, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I didn't know about that page, and I like this feature: "this page is cleaned regularly on the hour". Seems like a good idea to me. What do other people think? Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:39, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I'd be happy to make a bot to do the cleaning - should be really simple DannyS712 (talk) 06:41, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
The purpose of the page, as I understand it, is to give users a place to test the editing interface and wiki syntax without doing damage to pages that matter. This seems useful to me, like w:Wikipedia:Sandbox. I support using a bot to clean it once an hour or similar. —Granger (talk · contribs) 07:09, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, if a bot cleaned this page once an hour, that would be perfect! Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:37, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Sure, will write the bot when I get a chance (probably this weekend) - is the current block of text what should be used? DannyS712 (talk) 18:57, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think so. If we decide we want to change it, we can always edit the text at Wikivoyage:Graffiti wall/top, which wouldn't require a change to the bot. —Granger (talk · contribs) 20:28, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, DannyS712! Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:06, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I didn't get to it last weekend, but can I suggest that if the page is to be renamed to the sandbox, we do that now, so that I don't need to update the bot later? DannyS712 (talk) 16:20, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it matters what the name of this page is. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:42, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── That said, I think there still needs to be some boundaries, and we should be able to ban people for posting say, threats or bigoted content even though it is a "graffiti wall". Perhaps we should add something like that to the top of the page. The dog2 (talk) 17:32, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

We are able to block people for doing that, but sure, it wouldn't hurt to mention that. Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:52, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think "graffiti wall" is fine. The redirect from Wikivoyage:Sandbox is enough for those from the Wikipedias. –LPfi (talk) 18:11, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
I agree with LPfi. —Granger (talk · contribs) 18:23, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ikan Kekek @LPfi @Mx. Granger @The dog2 Okay, fine by me. Official request at Wikivoyage:Script nominations DannyS712 (talk) 19:12, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
