Hello Haoreima! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

• NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
• be bold → plunge forward
• Village pump → travellers' pub
• External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
• sandbox → graffiti wall
• stub tagging → Article status

A tip

If you want any phrasebooks to look at for inspiration Category:Guide phrasebooks or Category:Star phrasebooks is a list of some of the best phrasebooks on this site. The Armenian phrasebook or the Russian phrasebook are pretty good phrasebook for a phrasebooks in a non-Latin script, while the Portuguese phrasebook is probably the best on this entire site with audio recordings (which can be done via Lingua Libre). @SHB2000: Thank you for the information. Besides, I am expecting Manipuri to be supported within these coming 2-3 years by Google Translate. Currently, Manipuri is under beta version test platform selected by Google Translate for the last 5 months since August, 2021. Interesting. I still don't understand why Google translate chooses to support Latin (which is a dead language) but not numerous languages that are well spoken in Asia and Africa, including Tibetan to my surprise (maybe I'm surprised because Tibet get's a lot of media attention worldwide). Illegible notation

I want you to know that the following kind of notation, which you've added throughout the Manipuri phrasebook, just shows little boxes with, for example, AB on top and CC on the bottom, then R8 on top and EB on the bottom, etc. - nothing but gibberish. I would ask you to please eliminate this kind of notation:

@Ikan Kekek: that's because your browser does not have proper rendering support, causing it to have such issues. I get a similar issue on my old computer, but I don't get that on my new computer. @Ikan Kekek: I feel very sorry that Meitei script (Manipuri script) isn't still supported by some computers in some parts of the world. It's history of proper regulations started from the year 2006. Before that everything for Manipuri language was to be written in Bengali script. Nowadays, writing system got changed to Meitei script only. So, 2006 is a very late timing in case of development compared to other ethnicities of the world. That's why there's still some parts of the world not able to see Meitei script. However, this issue is getting overcome year by year. Newer desktops and laptops are starting to add Meitei script. Regarding mobile phone, most already did so.

Please don't say "gibberish". We will try to do at our best to make sure everything is adaptable and comfortable to others in future. Even within a few years, Google Translate is to approve Manipuri language, that was what I and SHB2000 we're discussing a few hours back, here.

I'm saying how it looks. It looks like gibberish on my laptop. That's not an insult to the script; it's an accurate description. And I feel like we can't expect most readers to buy a new laptop or download special programs to read it. However, if that's what we're going to do, it's vitally important to: (a) mention in the introduction to the phrasebook that many computers and cell phones don't show the script by default and (b) post links to programs (hopefully free) that Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android users can access that will enable them to view the script. @Ikan Kekek: Yes sir! I agree with you. For that, to the best of my knowledge, Mozilla Firefox is one of the softwares which supports Meitei script for laptop and desktop computers. For mobile phones, the script is supported by most in the world. If we need to mention more softwares, I can give a list of softwares for typefaces. I'm using the latest version of Firefox. Don't create captions; just add the links in a prose sentence in the introduction to the phrasebook. You can see the format for en.wikivoyage links at Wikivoyage:External links. If you have any questions after you've looked at that, just ask in a reply or in the Travellers' pub. Late reply. I think what's best to do is to add a {{disclaimerbox}} to the top of the page. This isn't just a problem with mni though, because currently for me, the second word of the Inuktitut phrasebook reads nothing but squares to me (and same with the mni right now). Pagebanners not showing

That's because the file doesn't exist on Commons ;). I'd usually do it, but I'm overseas now and can't access the CropTool. I'll make banners for them when I return home on 2022-01-12. Manipuri food

Hi, Haoreima,

I would recommend listing places to eat in destination articles and not duplicating information about pan-Manipuri dishes, which should be in Manipur#Eat only. If there's any article you might want to look at to see how the eat section is formatted, Paris/1st arrondissement (which is currently a star article) is a good example of what eat sections should contain in cities except for articles about India, the 12-hour clock should be used and you don't necessarily have to split them up into budget, mid-range etc., that's optional.

For park articles, from my experience, it's uncommon to find a restaurant or a café, and so if there's any restaurants/cafés within close proximity, just list that one, somewhat like how I listed it on Mungo National Park (I'm biased with that one because I wrote that myself). If there's none at all nearby, just say there's none. If there's also nothing to drink or buy, then it can be merged somewhat like I did in Pulu Keeling National Park or Hartz Mountains National Park. Order for cities

Links to Wikipedia

We all understand you're a new user here. In a lot of ways, allowing unlimited links to Wikipedia could be helpful, but then this site would really become just a branch of Wikipedia, not really a travel guide, I suppose? Anyway, there's been no consensus in favor of a greater scope for links to Wikipedia than are currently allowable. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:55, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

Well, the French and Italian Wikivoyages use them and all I can say is it looks ugly. On top of that, they also link to Wikispecies in the flora and fauna sections and it makes it even uglier. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:59, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

The difference there though is that they also put the Wikipedia, Wikispecies, Wiktionary or Wikibooks icon right next to a link, which on top of it not working out will, it would also end up chewing up data for some traveller where connection is poor. @SHB2000: According to my assumptions, the reason why they did so is to increase the readerships through cross wiki or just want to show every readers that these and those facilities are available in their languages. And for English, it's not done so because English is international lingua franca. Everyone knows about English Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, etc. but the case is less known for those of other speech groups. Restrictions on Afghans, Chinese and Pakistanis visiting Manipur
