Multiple emails

Thanks for all your contributions to Space-related travel destinations lately. Just a quick note on proper formatting with emails - there should be a comma between each one, otherwise a hidden error is generated. Parentheses vs. text is fine either way. You're right, seems to be a bug. Every instance of multiple emails is affected. For now, and for the phone/fax numbers, I'd say stick with the commas and parenthesis. Once the underlying template is fixed, it should display correctly. ARR8 (talk | contribs) 17:27, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

@SmileKat40, SelfieCity: Since SmileKat40 is a user in good standing, I've given them temporary IP block exempt status for one month, to give us time to figure out what went wrong here. If necessary, the IP block exemption can be extended. SmileKat40 reports that they are still blocked, that the problem is likely to resolve itself in the near future, but it would still be good for us to figure out the source of the problem in order to avoid it affecting other users in the future.

@SmileKat40: More information would be helpful in figuring this out. Can you send me your IP address (which you can find by going to a website such as https://whatismyipaddress.com/ ) and the error message, block log, etc. that Wikivoyage gives you when you try to edit? (I hate to call attention to this, but it might or might not explain the unintentional block, which I denied existed because when I checked SmileKat40's status, I saw that they had never been blocked. Possible, but I suspect that may be coincidence. The IP address SmileKat40 mentioned has been globally blocked as a proxy and geolocates to the United States. Maybe the hotel uses it to allow guests to bypass the Chinese firewall, or maybe SmileKat40 had a VPN or similar software activated on their computer.

Coincidentally, I'm in Shenzhen right now too (though I'm leaving the city for a trip soon). —Granger (talk · contribs) 09:07, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

Just so you know, most IP addresses used by VPNs are globally blocked on Wikimedia Foundation wikis. Your IP block exemption should take care of any problems with that for now, but it expires in a month. So if you're planning to be in mainland China editing with a VPN for longer than a month, let me or another admin know and we can extend the exemption. —Granger (talk · contribs) 23:24, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

I had a problem with a global IP block when I was travelling in New Zealand six months ago. At the time I was using a UK 3 phone to create a WiFi hotspot. I got a different IP address when I restarted the phone and the problem didn't recurr. I did find an explanation somewhere of the address being blocked, and who had blocked it, but I am not sure if I still have the details. AlasdairW (talk) 20:21, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

Lost phrases

It seems the Aymara and Tongan phrasebooks lost phrases when you added standard phrases, in Aymara the numbers, months and "day", in Tongan "welcome", "10,000" and "100,000". Did I miss something?

For the big numbers, as Tongan seems to have specific words for those, they are probably worth including even if they are not in the template. Generally, I would strongly advise against removing phrases unless you know the language and culture enough to know they are not needed.

For whatever reason, I didn't notice the phrases that were already in the Aymara phrasebook. I will fix that right now, and thanks for telling me about that. For Tongan, I'll restore "10,000" and "100,000" For "welcome", I'm not sure if that's for welcoming a guest or as a response to "thank you", so I deleted it.
