Is your bot still running - or have you stopped it until we sort out what (if any) meaning hyphens have, please?

Just working more slowly as have changed to edit logic and working with smaller collections of articles for each country. As for the example given, the original having two numbers was incorrect. There is a computer term for this: crap in - crap out. --Traveler100bot (talk) 06:45, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Back in the days when I had 45 programmers reporting to me it was more politely termed the "Gi,go" principle" (Garbage in, garbage out).
More pertinently, I really don't see how it can operate until and unless what (if any) meaning hyphens have is resolved --W. Frankemailtalk 23:35, 9 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
I really do not want to start the hyphen debate here, but I have taken out the changing of hyphen format from the logic of the update. It is now just removing other characters and adding international dial code. That achieves the initial goal of the exercise, making it dial-able direct from link for mobiles. Will basically leave the hyphen format as was, whether that is right or wrong. --Traveler100bot (talk) 04:56, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
That would be one solution. A better one would be to really put this long standing issue to bed and update all the phone numbers properly. At the moment it seems to have been kicked into the long grass or filed in the "too hard" tray again. I've been having to correct an awful lot of German articles recently - is there a list of countries avaialble where your bot has been sprinkling hyphens already, please? --W. Frankemailtalk 16:18, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Listing phone

edit

I suggest you to not include the blank space after the equal sign, because saving through the JS mask it would be removed. e.g. see this change. --Andyrom75 (talk) 09:51, 9 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Strasse-Straße

edit

Remember that in Switzerland and Liechtenstein it is actually spelled "Strasse". I am not sure about Luxembourg, though. Thanks for the replacements, though Hobbitschuster (talk) 16:52, 7 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Was just planning on Germany but no issue to also do Austria. Unfortunately I have to do in semi-auto manual view mode as there are some uses of the the word that cannot be changed, notably web page urls. I the few already done look OK I will do more over the next few days. --Traveler100 (talk) 17:14, 7 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Thank you and no problem; there's no rush. Hobbitschuster (talk) 17:18, 7 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Removing blank lines

edit

In this edit the bot seems to have only removed every other blank line in the list, not every blank line. Just wanted to bring that to your attention. —Granger (talk · contribs) 03:12, 15 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Here too. —Granger (talk · contribs) 03:14, 15 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Mx. Granger: Yes there is a behaviour that sometime it does not do every line. It is not always that it misses every other line of a list, any many it does successfully, this particular pattern is a concern. The save is however making a change on these lines, as it does on other pages. What I think is happening is that there is a different character here doing the carriage return, the page save is then placing the correct new line character as a second run through pages fixes the issue. --Traveler100 (talk) 06:02, 15 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
There is a pattern and an oversight in my code. I need to make a second scan through the edit of single lines. Will run though pages again. --Traveler100 (talk) 06:18, 15 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Do not touch my page

edit

I know you are trying to help, but you completely wrecked my privacy by altering my user page. Please leave me alone. Donny (talk) 21:51, 24 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

@DAZ14LPA: Sorry if you feel offended but a little bit of an exaggeration I think. I replaced a template being used that has been retired so fixing something that would break, fixing code that made no visible change to page is hardly completely wrecking. And how exactly is this a privacy issue, this is a public wiki site? --Traveler100 (talk) 07:46, 27 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
It was on my user page, and going behind my back to edit something on my user page, even if it was to fix an old template, seems rude. You could have just told me about it on my user talk page instead of doing it yourself is all. Donny (talk) 22:29, 29 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

User language templates

edit
Swept in from the pub

There is a complex collection of over 300 templates that can display the languages a contributor is familiar with. This has been mentioned previously on this page and others but I know it is easy to miss when buried in long discussions or seldom visited admin talk pages. This is a notification that you will see user:traveler100bot editing user pages to match the syntax explained at Wikivoyage:Babel. --Traveler100 (talk) 08:39, 2 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Finally. Do we have consensus to delete the templates in favor of the Bable module? —Justin (koavf)TCM 08:47, 2 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
If not, we can always post at vfd; I agree that, if the templates are being made redundant as it seems, we should delete the templates. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 00:40, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Not while so many are still in use (example). WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:18, 4 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
When the bot has been given temporary admin rights for the task I will replace the the templates where they are used. Will then put up a vdf. --Traveler100 (talk) 06:12, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Koavf: OK. Thanks for explaining. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 13:00, 7 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
