This article was created by one of the students in User:Piotrus's class. It's supposed to be a district of Incheon, but no discussion on districts has taken place, and IMO there isn't enough content in that city right now to need districts. There's been some back and forth with the student, who isn't communicating and doesn't appear to understand why other editors are reformatting their content... but I think edit warring over how to format this content is irrelevant because this shouldn't be an article to begin with. --Bigpeteb (talk) 16:50, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge the travel content and redirect.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 17:33, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge and redirect Ground Zero (talk) 19:40, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wait and see how things develop. Yeonsu District is next to Songdo, which has had an article since 2007. I expect that the article should be moved to Yeonsu and the breadcrumbs changed. We can decide later if it should be merged into Songdo (after the class has finished). The tourist information suggests there could be enough here. AlasdairW (talk) 19:45, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge and redirect. As far as the student's behavior is concerned, this looks to me like a case of an inexperienced editor who (whether because of age, limited English proficiency, or whatever) was unable to understand the explanations we gave him of why the content they'd contributed was altered, and then responded by "kicking down the sandcastle" as it were, with the page blanking and so forth. It is true that Piotrus gave us advance notice that there'd be an influx of newbies, and I would agree that we owe it to him to assume good faith and roll with the punches a little more than usual, but that's not the same as writing a blank check. I don't think there's any place, on or off Wikivoyage, where behavior like that is appropriate, and if it continues, I don't think it follows that the escalating user block procedure would be unwarranted just because it's a member of Piotrus' class. It appears he's already been warned on his user talk page, at any rate. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 20:01, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Easier to just move it to Incheon/Yeonsu. It might need to be merged & deleted later, but why worry about that now? Pashley (talk) 19:57, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Incheon is not a Huge City, and I think it would be a bit ridiculous to start an entire districtification discussion (for a city without enough content to merit districtification, no less) just to avoid making waves vis-à-vis a temperamental newbie. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 20:01, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, and if anything, it might be educational for their class to see how a wiki community responds when you try to create a page that doesn't fit the guidelines (or get into an edit war). --Bigpeteb (talk) 20:55, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. If the subject of the class is how to edit wikis, we'd be doing the students a disservice if we were to pretend we tolerate this kind of behavior as a matter of course. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 21:34, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We should also consider Songdo, which is less than 1 mile away, and could also be considered to be a district of Incheon. The student didn't make Yeonsu part of Incheon, that was a later edit by User:Traveler100. I think the student could be confused as to why Songdo is ok, but Yeonsu isn't. I don't know the situation on the ground, so I am not sure whether it is valid to consider these as separate cities, or as districts of Incheon. AlasdairW (talk) 22:35, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge and redirect. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:51, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • M and R per the rest. It might be notable eventually like Songdo, but the student has not done sufficient work to make it clear. I'd suggest also to copy the article as it is to her sandbox in case she wants to work on it there. Unfortunately it is one of the students who almost never speaks to me so I am still unsure what she wants to do and how she feels about this issue :( Last class I suggested to her that she should improve the article on Incheon for now. --Piotrus (talk) 02:39, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Done; the page has been merged and redirected. I also left a very long message for J2dms09 on their User Talk page. Perhaps Piotrus will be able to get the class to look at it and discuss it to see what they can learn. --Bigpeteb (talk) 19:14, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think that was pretty much exactly the ideal course of action. Thank you, Bigpeteb, and hopefully Piotrus does follow up with his students. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 19:33, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Per above, is this closed to the point that we can archive this discussion as merge and redirect? --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 01:38, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you. --Bigpeteb (talk) 19:11, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
